Glorantha Perspectives

Play / read Glorantha Perspectives

Question tested

How can lived cosmologies and multiple relations to reality become playable without reducing them to one neutral hidden physics?

Burden targeted

Avoid forcing players either to learn a vast corpus before acting or to translate Glorantha into familiar contemporary categories.

Complexity to preserve or generate

Cultures, myths, runes, religious practices, and worldviews must remain able to create real differences in what is thinkable, relevant, and possible.

Device

The game uses Regard. What a character knows, owns, practices, or believes feeds relevance. Perspectives can become mechanically operative in resolution; Regard's language of Prisms owes much to this experiment.

Observation

A perspective can do more than color narration: it can alter how uncertainty is processed. This offers one answer to access to otherness through practice rather than lore exposition alone.

Burden shift

The approach depends on the quality of the perspectives provided. A Prism that is too prescriptive can caricature a cosmology; one that is too abstract can return all interpretive work to the player it was meant to support.

Implication

Glorantha Perspectives is a major experimental case, but its local solutions are not Resonance invariants. The question of access to otherness must survive the invention of different devices.

Status

Playable game built with Regard; major experiment on perspective, ontology, and otherness.
